Michigan vs. Iowa Open Thread
Can Michigan reach the 8 victory mark for the first time since 2007? Fingers crossed. Leave us your thoughts on Michigan-Iowa or any of Saturday's college football action, including the big Oversigning Bowl LSU-Alabama game.

Is game day going to ONLY talk about this match up of the oversigned teams? I think it was VanBergen who tweeted yesterday, something about all of the talk of LSU and Bama, and how they were going to give them a reason to talk about Michigan today!
OMG....ESPN just doesn't quit....in the time that I am writing this.....they are talking about being in the SEC and how elite that conference is.......I guess I can't watch game day today........I might go postal.
Of course the SEC could be called an elite conference. It's pretty easy to dominate your opponents when you flaunt the rules. I'm not sure if that qualifies it to be an elite. Elite wins within the rules.
Catie going postal? Well it is still end of life care.... sorta....
wv = eflant
Well, I'm off to Rynearson for what is probably one of EMU's biggest games in a long time.
Aww man, who stopped the clock?
Coffee.... check. Off to work.. check. Have fun with whatever game you are watching today everyone... and Go Blue!!
27-21
Well, I am a little nervous about today's game. This is a big game for this group of players. A win today should give them confidence for a November stretch run.
GO BLUE!
I agree, WH. And we're pretty banged up, esp. on O-line. Not good.
Romona, time to get a new job! Don't your employers know that Michigan football is a religion and Saturday is the holy day of obligation?
Time for Hoke to coach em up..This is Michigan for God's sake.
Aaaaaaargh....missed extra point..not a good thing.
Yeah, no excuse for that, WH.
Hoke needs to invest in some tar for our players' hands. Candidates include Hemingway and Dileo.
Minnesota is up on MSU 14-7!! Go Gophers!
@Yost We don't look ready today. Tentative. I am optimistic about a second half turn around.
Kovacs looks to be 80% if that. Denard looks confused running the ball. Hope the 4th quarter is still close so they can turn it on.
Terrible first half. Poor play all around. Hope to turn it around.
It is difficult not to like Hoke.
This is absolutely awful.
Gardner has got to be better. He's been on campus a couple years now. No excuse not to have him ready.
Well, that was an ugly quarter by both teams.
I think the Michigan predator in this pic is going to slit his own wrists with his arm knife after this performance.
I have no words.
Did our boys party it up last night in Iowa or what? Everyone looks sluggish. Even Denard looks like he's in slow motion.
Why must our dongs be punched every year
I'm sorry but I'm ready for Denard to graduate. It's time to move on.
He's a great player and kid but he'll just never be what Hoke needs at QB.
Not one of those passes is close,
come on.
I do not want this to come down to a 2 point conversion.
maybe Denard needs some geeky glasses to improve his aim-kinda like wild thing in Major League?! It's like they can only catch the ball if it's behind them!
On the 3 yard line with 4 plays, and you don't run Denard ONCE?? Are you kidding me?? We totally got robbed on that non-touchdown call, but total BS all-around. We had a chance to win it, but we didn't deserve to. BS effort, BS offense, BS officials.
We got hosed!
Well, I hope the refs at least bought you some dinner...
I can completely see why they didnt call that a TD since the ball does touch the ground. It never should have came to that to begin with. Terrible turnover in the endzone ad a terrible fumble cost us the game. Denard is playing himself out of Michigan. You can't run him on any of those plays save the final play with 2 seconds left because if he's tackled it's game over you do not get another play off. They should have ran a sweep option pitch that final play though. Either way we weren't making the 2 point conversion so it was a moot point.
This is the same team it's been the last 4 years. Just this year they beat the teams they are supposed to beat. The close games though they still lose.
We've got a long way to go.
tsk tsk. such impatience. you were expecting 11-1?
seriously. people need to get in their "way back" machines, go to August of this year, look at the schedule, and ask themselves if they thought this team would be 7-2 w/ only road losses to MooSU & Iowa? or did you think it was going to be 9-0 or 8-1 instead?
this team has a real shot at 9-3, and a decent bowl game. that's all, but that's still a lot.
look at our record over the last decade BEFORE the R2 years- 8/9/0 wins & a nice bowl is what "Michigan football" has been all about for a long time. go back further to Moeller & Bo? and it's more of the same.
enjoy the 7-2, hope for the 9-3, and pray for 10-2.
fergawdsakes...
BAH, I definitely agree on most points. I still think at least one designed run or option would have been wise. True, the clock would run with a tackle, but my point is this: with the game on the line, do you want to trust Denard's arm (and our mostly ham-fisted receivers) to win the game, or Denard's legs? It's a risk to run, but I think our chances were best from the frickin' 3-YARD LINE (!!!) to run Denard.
SiC, I agree that I would have been ecstatic with 9-3 in August, but at that time I assumed the B1G wouldn't be the dumpster fire it is today. The final record is one measure of success, but so is beating mediocre and inferior opponents. Iowa is usually a stout team. This year they are down, and we should have been able to take care of them. We still can't play consistent football against decent teams.
Gah, what a shitty football day
Karma.....who has the bad karma out there? What the hell was up with all the missed pass interference calls?
And Sparty........the pain......the pain......Having just been in Minnesota for a week......I know the total elation they felt over beating Iowa last week.....I can only imagine what it must feel like to almost beat sparty.........WHY couldn't they pull it off.....WHY!!!!!??? I don't like Sparty, never have, never will.....but watching Cousins skip like a fairy at the end of the game against us.....all I want to is to see him in tears.......Minny almost achieved that today. GAH!
LOL@Tom....indeed, end of life care.....:)
Right on... missed pass interference calls, taking away a TD we should have had... I get we were not good enough to win despite the officiating but I do see Brady Hoke building a team that will GET THERE.. the most encouraging sign is I see is a Michigan team that, once is down on the scoreboard, no longer rolls over and plays dead but comes from behind to stay a contender. These will eventually turn into wins, keep the faith!
