OUTSTANDING.
And there is much mirthful chortling wafting out from the happy confines of A2 tonight...
I personally think he should have gotten the same five games the players got. He should have put a stop to this in April.
I heard they were waiting until April 1 to announce.
J,
I have a feeling that the NCAA is going to come down a little harder than the 2 game self-imposed penalty.
Agree Yost. NCAA may add a couple. of games. Or may move the suspension to conference games which would be Sparty in the shoe and at our new brother Corny.
The Ohio State University is the best! In Tressell we trust. This is all Meechigan has to hang their hats on. Too funny
I'm another of the OSU lurkers who appreciate what you guys do. I too have some doubts about the veracity of Tressel's comments. I can understand not wanting to screw up a federal investigation and acting on this might have done that, but he has to know that is not his decision to make. And even if he did keep it quiet, it should have come out in December when everything else came out. I tell my son, who is 7, that if he lies to me about something it will be three times as worse than if he came out and told me the truth.
Speaking of my son, he and I are headed to A2 this weekend for the Jason Whitfield Invitational. My son is a level 5 gymnast and will be competing. Looks like it will be at Cliff Keen Arena, at the corner of Hoover and State. Can anyone recommend a good place for dinner on a Saturday night with a seven year old? Also he doesn't start warm-ups on Sunday until 12:30. Anything interesting to do that would appeal to him? Henry Ford museum is too big and too far to make it worth going or we'd look like the Griswald's at the Louvre. Not sure if we will do Mass on Saturday night or Sunday morning. Thanks.
Dennis,
First off - best of luck to your son! That's great.
As for where to eat, if he likes hamburgers, there's a little hole in the wall place called Blimpy Burgers on S. Division that is an A2 mainstay.
On the pizza front, there's Cottage Inn on, I believe, E. William in the heart of campus.
In terms of what to see, the Arb - depending on the weather - might be fun. And there's also the A2 Hands On Museum.
PS And totally agree re: coming clean from the get-go. That was a big one with my dad as well, "Just tell me the truth."
I think this isn't over from a punishment standpoint.
And thanks for reading.
Michigan fans finally have something about which to be giddy. Too funny. I guess Ohio State will just have to kill you again next year.
I think the infractions of the players were friggin minimal (trading/selling
crap for simple tattoos), BUT I think the infractions of Tressel is
horrific. Two game suspension and $250k fine is not enough. If he wants
everyone to really believe he is sorry and takes this seriously, he should
have been suspended for at least as many games as the players, and taken a
fine of at least $1M (4 months salary). What I hate more than anything is
now we have given people reason to suspect the program is dirty, like in the
days of Cooper, where no one really graduated and everyone was getting paid.
OSU has worked hard to put that crap behind them, and now this. I hate that
OSU's integrity is being put in question because of Tressel's extremely poor
judgment. Frustrating.
There's also the University's own natural history museum which is actually pretty cool. Not sure what hours it's open though. It's basically free but donations are encouraged. Took the kids through there one visit and we enjoyed it.
If your football team was this creative, maybe you could beat the Buckeyes once in a while.
jim tressel is an admitted liar & cheat.
get creative w/ that.
I don't have the ability but I thought the stadium scene from Turk 182 may be an appropriate reference. WHO KNEW? TRESSEL KNEW!
Blimpy Burger was featured on Diners, Drive Ins and Dives a few years ago. Here's the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hVTcAkfuRFw
if you cant beat em, mock em!
Things in Ann Arbor:
The Natural History Museum...has some dinosaur bones and a stuffed wolverine...No Buckeyes though...
The Hands On Museum...Never been there myself but I hear it's pretty neat.
Pinball Petes
For Food:
Blimpy or Cottage Inn
Nice artwork again. I second the need for a Turk182 reference. It was the first thing I thought of.
Dennis-trymuseum of natural history. I think it is by the dental school.
If you haven't. Read the emails yet, you need to. There is a link on mgoblog.
Thanks for all the suggestions. Sadly, the museums all seem to open around noon on Sunday which is too late. We may just wander around the campus and not pee on things. A modified version of that previous sentence was suggested to me along with capturing the moments on film.
How is parking on a Sunday? I am somewhat scarred by my years at Ohio State and my experience with Traffic and Parking.

Dear parent (s) I am the head football coach for a major University. I would like to have your son join my football program on a full paid scholarship. I can guarantee him that he will be protected by me for all wrong doings. I have a special relationship with our President and AD from the University. I can do no wrong. If anything about your son comes to my attention in a confidential form I will take it to the grave. If for some reason this comes out in the media my boss will call me his friend and we will talk about it for hours. Then he will slap my hand give me a small fine, I don’t care I make a lot of money, and suspend me from the first two games of the season. My boss, who makes a lot more money than I do will probable pay my fine and the two games are only against local high schools, so who cares. I will never seek the advice from someone on this confidential matter, who would keep our conversation confidential. I will be contacting you to see if this program is the right fit for your son. I might be in disguise, but you will see a halo over my head to revel my real identity.
Sincerely, The Coach.

LOL, Bill.
And Dennis, Sundays are usually okay for parking.
2665!!!!!
I wouldn't be so sure about that number, Jon. Not until the NCAA report on The Vest's "self-reported violation" comes back.
Gas prices were $1.72 when Michigan beat Ohio State last - FYI
B M Popa - if things go the way i want them to on NCAA sanctions, Michigan beat you last November.
(dennis, they ticket any and everything but just to make sure, give me your license plate number. u say u are from Ohio hey?) p.s. congrats to your son and good luck.
