RE-BREAKING NEWS: Not so fast my friend

Upon further review, Michigan coach Rich Rodriguez will has NOT been fired yet

I don't want to say the initial reports by Fox 2 News in Detroit who "broke" the story got it wrong but...

All I can say now is...

Not fired YET.

YET is the key word here.

I will be stunned into silence if RR survives to coach at Michigan next year.

LOL. This is great theater.

This just in according to Chris Fowler at ESPN:

"The defense isn't RR's fault. He had good defenses at WV. Lloyd Carr just left the cupboard completely bare."

Seriously, he just said that.

Whet

You are so right.

We are a cartoon right now.

Nothing ever goes smoothly. If I wasn't so frustrated, I would laugh.

Glad we could entertain, Whet. I know if the roles were reversed and it was Tosu doing this, I'd be doubled over with laughter.

This day will never end. He's fired, he's not fired, he's fired, he's not fired..........over and over and over again and it never ends. I was in the Virgin Islands once. I met a girl. We ate lobster, drank PiƱa Coladas. At sunset we made love like sea otters. That was a pretty good day. Why couldn't I have that over and over and over?

I have a question, this is a serious question. Does the college football media seem to constantly mess up only Michigan stories, or does it just seem that way to me because I am emotionally vested. I can't recall another instance of ESPN reporting something about a coach from another school and it being retracted. It has now happened with the last two potential coaching at Michigan. I am just a bit to young to remember Bo coming to Ann Arbor, but had it been reported that Bear Bryant was coming to Michigan or something like that in 1969?
All but that last sentence is a serious question.

Phil,
Hahahahaha!! I literally almost fell out of my chair reading that. What a great summation.

OK I don't want to be accused of being insane or being a fan of a rival school. I've been a Michigan for almost all, of my almost all 50 years on this planet. And I enjoy this site but I'm not good at sucking up so I'll probably get kicked off here in record time. In the meantime...consider this: RR was promised 4 years to turn the program around, not 3. People HOPED for 7-5 this year now it's off with his head? That's never been the Michigan ethic and to me it's more imporant to honor the agreement, than to have a winning season. Second, people are acting so crazy about Harbaugh coming here they are making up stories by the hour.. first there was going to be this announcement on Monday. well that didn't happen so it became, well of course they have to wait until the Orange Bowl is played. OK that's over. People why would he return to Ann Arbor? Only if it is in his heart to do so and it's not sounding that way..money is not an incentive, his wife just had a baby they are living the good life in CA and he can go to the 49ers. I would love it if Michigan was in his heart enough to come back here but not getting my hopes up. I do hope our program can figure out how to RECRUIT!!

Sparty has loved it. Nobody is saying a word about the fact that bama roll tided them to oblivion, instead we get how badly Michigan was spanked and coaching rumors.

IF DB was as good of an AD as I think Michigan deserves, this would not be happening right now.

Yost,

I'm not doubled over laughing. That would be cruel. However, this drawn out tragic opera is entertaining to say the least. It's like getting sucked in to a daily dose of General Hospital.

Aaaaaargh! There aren't words sufficient to describe this spectacle. Five weeks to make a decision, and now it appears the moment snuck up on the "decider".

As for you Kirk, I just pulled the picture from my wallet that depicts you lying on the turf on your back, knocked the f*ck out in THE game. You were as cogent in that moment as you are today.

Can it be that Lloyd Carr left DB's cupboard bare as well? What could possibly have been said in the hours during the RR - DB meeting that would cause this decision to be put off?

Earlier I too was going to post regarding the end of "our long MNC Coach Chase nightmare" but that was before I realized that this might become the Maize and Blue version of Groundhogs Day!

I am still holding out hope that Jim Harbaugh loves Michigan, and the program as much as he has always professed, and will come back here. If not .....well then ...aaaaaargh!

Let's not panic now... Maybe they postponed everything because they wanted to get Groban to do a Live send-off to Rich Rod... just throwing out an idea. Ramona, I do believe we figured it would take 4 years to turn the program around and for him to get his system in place...but I also think we were expecting (reasonably so) improvement in all phases up the game from year to year. Clearly Defensively that hasn't happened. Offensively you can say it has....when we are playing bad to mediocre defenses. Anytime we came up against a good defense we fizzled.

I'm quire sure this is going to drive me to alot of drinking over the next day (hopefully only one).

Agreed Catie.. on Sparty. Brag brag all season long and now not a peep.

Now if you'll excuse me I have to go out and get some tattoos to help my family.

Perfect ending to a perfect day....

I get to watch the buckeyes play Ryan Mallett. Yippie.

Let's all calm down- remember all's well that ends well. Chances are that by this time tomorrow either they'll have announced the firing of the entire D staff & the hiring of Shannon/Tgorvec/___(big name DC here), or they'll introduce Jimbo as the new HC.

Either way, it should be clear by the weekend.

I have to live with a buckeye so, to make my life more pleasant, I hope they scrape out the win. not really up for buying a new TV since a shoe is about to go thru it.

Congrats to our Buckeye friends for keeping the Big Ten pride alive during this bowl season. Nice job.

One question: how is that TP can be hoping around after the final interception like a mexicn jumping bean and a couple of minutes later be barely be able to walk or breath after the game during the interview?

Methinks he is a drama queen that has watched too many NFL films reruns of Kellen Winslow Sr.

Even tho we have very different views on the whole situation, I do always appreciate your humor. Epic photoshop.
