Michigan's Best Two Coaching Options

A lot of talk is swirling around the Internet, sports talk radio and the local newspapers about who is the best choice to be Michigan's football coach.

Like Dave Brandon, I haven't jumped to some rash, knee-jerk decision.  I've done my homework.  I've watched the bowls.  I've thought long and hard about what is best for school and program.

Thus, after careful consideration, here are my top two choices to lead Meeeechigan football forward.

Choice #1:

Choice #2:

Is it just me, or does Jimmy seem a bit full of himself? He makes me nervous, I am not so sure I want him to come here.

Wow, at 12:35AM I was confident that JH was on his way home to AA2- and then about 4:30 I read your post, checked the tweets and still felt confident that JH would be the next HC. Then I saw the freep article by Rosenhater and doubt started to creep in.

I remember Bo as being "a little full of himself" and after watching JH's defense and offense last night I am way ok with some ego.

I hope that "sources familiar with Harbaughs thought process" are completely feeding the freep BS.

There is no way I believe that a guy that loves UM, loves coaching and has a chance to realize a life long dream elects to turn it down, not this job, not at this time. If you love UM and can help, I don't buy that you turn your back on the program.

DB if you can't close this deal, you have a problem.

I'm not going to believe any of this "he is going, he isn't going" hype until Kirk Herbstreit reports the facts!

who the hell is harmbaugh?

WHy would he come to M if he can go to the NFL? I believe everything is true and he will be San Fran's next coach starting this weekend. I also don't believe Brandon has a problem if he "can't close this deal." I don't think Harbaugh ever planned on coming to Michigan or he would have applied for the job 3 years ago.

JH is a bit full of himself (so it seems), as was RichRod when he was kicking the shit out of the Big East at WVU. The tides have turned- a crappy season and defense will do that to a person.

Love the articles and couldn't agree more- RR is a good coach but may not have been the right one. He changed the offense and defense in the midst of a recruiting depression, a huge mistake in my opinion.

Like most of us, I also want Harbaugh but have no illusions about the man. He's a hyper-competative asshole. I doubt I'd want to have a beer with him or invite him over to my house, but I think that type of personality is fine for a football coach.

He's the kind of guy that will thoroughly piss off every opponent and Michigan could use that. Michigan's opponents have had a little too much love for our coaches over the last several years.

And, if Michigan doesn't land Harbaugh, I'm sure Michigan can find another coach who can--at the very least--go 7-5 in the season, lose to our rivals, and get embarassed in a bowl game for a lot less money.

Why would Harbaugh come to Michigan if he could go to the NFL? I think job security is the top pick. Unless he somehow lands in New England, Pittsburgh or Tennessee, he's going to be on a three year cycle just about no matter where he goes in the NFL. Most NFL owners do not seem to have the patience that alot of college progams have.

Oh yeah....
Day 2 - Still black smoke coming over Schembechler Hall...

Hottest rumor is JH to the Dolphins. Will get to coach Henne and Long I guess.

Question is, will he contact Jim Gray to help announce it?

I wouldn't mind seeing him coach the Browns and against his brother at Baltimore.

I've given up on him coaching M so unless something surprises me this week I'll wait to hear what NFL team he's going to coach. Honestly if I were him I'd take the Browns over San Fran or any of the other places. Mike Holmgren knows what he is doing and I'd want to be a part of that.

I don't think any coach can be successful in SF. But I would laugh if he took that job and immediately released Troy Smith and Ginn.

lol

"Brady Hoke" is a lot easier to spell than either Harbaugh or Rodriquez.

That makes him a favorite with tosu fans & Free Press reporters.

I'm just saying.

Good read there. Probably all the same information holds true.

Anymore though I don't care. I just want it to end. Hire Joe Nobody I really wouldn't care.
This fanbase has really showed it's disgusting arrogant side throughout all this. RR was doomed from the start because he was never given a chance. Then everyone cries for his head when he's not performing. Which of any of us would perform on the job with an entire fanbase always saying you're wrong or you're not the right guy or you suck? Throw in the stupid WVU lawsuit and the practicegate and there's no way you could succeed. Prcticegate can only be laid on his shoulders because someone who didn't like him started it all. It has been going on there since well before Carr's time I can assure you. Now regardless of who will be the next coach RR has to go because the program can't take another year of having "the elephant" in the locker room. Idc who the head coach is and would actually prefer it be a nobody. Wipe the slate completely clean and start building M back to a powerhouse. They will never be a powerhouse with the current players and I don't care how many wins they get over the next 2 years as long as they are making strides to the future.

Lots of rumors and "inside" info being thrown out today.

If is headed to the NFL, God save his soul. Better coaches than him have tried and failed miserably.

My real hope is JH is remaining silent because the Michigan job is technically not open yet. Once "the evaluation" takes place and RR is escorted out of the building - my hope is that Brandon will make the deal final and public.

Any thing else will be a disappointment at this point. One thing to keep in mind... When Ohio State fired Cooper, JT was the 3rd or 4th option. I trust in Brandon and his ability to make this all better. I know once this over I will climb up on the bandwagon again, but this ride sucks.

Reports are that Dave Brandon will be meeting with RR this afternoon and that the team is to meet at 7 to listen to one last Josh Groban song.....I mean to learn the fate of Rodriguez (according to ESPN). So it's possible we'll have some insight by nights end. Although I'm not believing any announcements aba speculative coaches untill I see them quoted as saying they aren't coming

I still would like I said the last time we were going through all of this. Bring either Paul Johnson or the Current Navy coach. Triple Option Baby.

They couldn't possibly fumble any more could they? Maybe Johnson would be an ok fit.
