Breaking News: Rich Rodriguez Fired

He's gone.

It's official. Rich Rod is out.

Oh, and Dave Brandon, I think I speak for every Michigan fan out there when I say...

Now just don't f*ck it up.  Some Michigan fans are already starting to panic...

UPDATE: Herbstreit believes Harbaugh will be next coach...which means we don't have a shot.  &^%!

First on Fox News. Picked up by Detroit News and ESPN.

Let the street dancing begin....

You certainly don't speak for every Michigan fan. Certainly none of the ones I talk to on a daily basis. Hope you enjoy Brady Hoke.

Also, I'm pretty sure UM is the only official source on this, not Fox, not ESPN. Not that I expect this to be false.

In the words of Michigan alumnus, Gerald Ford: Our long national nightmare is over.

I wanted RR to succeed because, hey, it's all about Michigan football. That said, Dave Brandon sure as hell better know what he's doing. This HAS to be a home run hire.

Well, BPD, I wouldn't say it's over quite yet. I hope we get someone good who hates OSU, ND and MSU.

Mikoyan said...

It shouldn't be too difficult to get someone who hates all three of those teams. for ND, we sit him front of a TV with picks in his eyes and make him watch "Rudy" repeatedly. For State, we have a few Spartans throw a "housewarming" party for him. For Ohio State, everyone should hate Ohio State by default.

PBR,

Nope, it's never really over. Next will be whatever coaching search there is. Followed by the wait to see how that coach recruits. Then, the wait to see how that coach runs practices. Then we have to wait to see that coach in his first game. Then his first game against Ohio State. And on and on and on. Anyway, you get the idea, happily ever after is only an illusion.

fwiw...

Brady Hoke runs the 3-3-5

:(

sru.

But Brady Hoke will be cheaper.

:P

ha but i don't think $$ is the issue for getting harbaugh. i think harbaugh loves the west coast - his wife definitely loves it - and i think he's intrigued by coaching in the nfl like his brother.

Sorry. Nothing is "over". It's just started.

soooo, call me ignorant, but please tell me the WHOLE staff goes with him!!!! Lord knows I hope so. Let's start fresh with some fired up coaching!!! BTW, loved the little "Ditty" about the evaluation!! you guys are just a blast to read!! Thanks also to Title 9 for the healing pics for us fans with our own ta-ta's. :)

Glad to see you liked it.

Re: ta-tas I am not sure I would ever have done anything useful with my life if I had my own pair to entertain me.

Please, does anyone honestly believe the first year will be worst than 3 - 9? He had one win against a ranked team. If anyone should be panicking, it should be tUOS.

srudoff said...

Well Hoke is already 0-2 against Tressel at Michigan - plus we were panicking when it was announced that RichRod was the hire.

Truth be told the Big Ten's not coming back as a power conference until you and penn state are back so begrudgingly i understand the importance of this being a good hire, whoever it is.

No dancing yet....things are still unconfirmed and sources are backing away from the story.

It aint over til DB says its over......

And then I worry that we will be returned to 37 more years wandering in the desert....

On the other hand, maybe that flight from Willow Run to Florida went empty to bring back Gruden or Harbaugh for a presser??

From Ye Olde Curiosity Shoppe:
If you're Brandon, and you've got your heart set on making a "name" hire (sorry, Brady Hoke), where does Les Miles fit in this discussion? I remember his name being thrown around these parts a great deal the last time there was a vacancy...

If I'm either Stanford or Michigan - let's leave the professionals out of this for the sake of argument - I play 'dueling endowments of enormous proportions' until one or the other blinks. That would be one hell of a game of poker!

phil said...

beast - let's come up with a different plan:

michigan endowment 6 billion
stanford endowment 13.8 billion

ChicagoWolverine said...

This is false:

way to go fox 2 news!!!

beast in 'bama said...

Good heavens to Aunt Maude, I did not realize the endowment discrepancy was that great! I apologize for somehow making your $6 billion endowment look puny.

Stanford has a GDP, a parliament, and a pair of orbiting bodies all it's own, then?

Tonights team meeting postponed til wednesday....

So it's not even final?

Holy George O'Leary- we've become ND.
If this were anyone else, it would be very funny.

Hell. It IS us, & it's still funny.

6:22 pm and it still isn't official (although I find it SOOOOOO hard to believe that Fox would ever EVER make anything up) but everyone does seem to have "sources" out there that indicate something is happening. Now here's the question for everyone who is ready to jump off the nearest bridge if we don't get Harbaugh: Why on earth would he come here?

Three years ago Herstreit reported Les Miles to Michigan. Les Miles then held a press conference saying that he would not leave LSU. After this we hired RR.
Earlier today Herbstreit said he thinks JH will be Michigan's next coach after RR has been "apparently" fired. What if this is some kind of curse and we end up with RR again. Let the Panic ensue. ;)

TitleIX said...

Blame Herbstreit!!!!
