The Wizard of Rod: I want to go home!

It has to be a bad dream...doesn't it?

"But it wasn't a dream. It was a place. In Ann Arbor.  And you were there, Andy, and you, Title 9, and you, Baggy...and, unfortunately, so were you, Sru. But you couldn't have been could you? Because it was about Michigan football.  And about their football program.  No, Aunt "M," this was a real truly live place and I remember some of it wasn't very nice.  They had stuffed animals on the sidelines.  And crying to Josh Groban music at the football banquet.  And losing.  Lots and lots of losing.  And I had to keep blogging about it.  It was awful!

All I kept saying to everybody was 'I want to go home, back to the place where Michigan had a defense, and no stuffed animals, and no Josh Groban music,' and they sent me home! Doesn't anybody believe me? But anyway, Andy, we're home! Home. And this is my blog and you're all here and I'm not going to leave here ever, ever again. Because I love you all. And... Oh Auntie "M!" There's no place like home!  No place like The Big House!"

My eyes are watering from laughing so hard (not from listening to Josh Groban)

Wow, this is so really, oddly appropriate.

Because “home” for Dorothy was Great Depression/Dust Bowl savaged Kansas. A world shown in black & white, dust filled homes, dying crops, endless foreclosures, and a bleak future.

And your analagous “home” for Michigan fans, where we a had a D? would be a world where we’re still 1-6 against tosu, but the losses are “close”, which is so much better, and our D’s only get humiliated by USC, and Oregon, and App State, and oh, Minnesota- who can forget them planting their flag on the M at homecoming because we couldn’t tackle/stop an 70 yard run (now THAT was D!), and when we had the ball, everyone in the stadium moaning as we run the zone stretch to the left on 1st down for the umpteenth consecutive time. Ah, the good ole’ days, huh?

You’re right. This is dead on.

And “winning”, is such a relative thing, isn’t it?

the first column is Harbaugh's overall record as HC at Stanford. the second column is his conference record...

2007 Stanford 4–8 3–6
2008 Stanford 5–7 4–5
2009 Stanford 8–5 6–3 L Sun Bowl
2010 Stanford 11–1 8–1
is it just me? or is there something vaguely familiar about his record over the 1st 3 seasons? *

It’s a good thing Jimmy is at Stanford. He’d have been hard pressed to get to that 4th season here.

*yes, he did upset USC in 2007. still finished 4-8.

Nice try on the RR/JH record comparison, SiC. Only one teeny, tiny problem with that. RR took over the winningest program in the history of cfb which hadn't had a losing record in 40 years.

Harbaugh? He took over a Standford team that hadn't HAD A WINNING RECORD since 2001, going 2-9, 4-7, 4-7, 5-6 and 1-11 ( One and ELEVEN in 2006!) in the 5 years before JH got there.

Yeah, that's apples to apples.

Lemme guess - Walt Harris left the cupboards full of 5* recruits off that 1-11 season?

Point is, if Stanford had pulled the plug last year, after 2 losing seasons & 8-5, they wouldn't be 11-1 now.

If Jimmy is 8-5 after 3 years here, you wanna fire him, too? Or does he get a 4th season?

(The Wizard of Oz speaks to RR:)
Back where I come from, there are coaches who do nothing all day but win. They are called cham... er... champi... er... [trying to say "champions"] yes... er... winners. And their coaching knowledge is no bigger than yours – But! They have one thing you haven't got…… A better three year resume. Therefore, in consideration of your past deeds, I take pleasure at this time in presenting you with a small token of our esteem and affection…..the buy out on your contract. And remember, my sentimental friend, that a coach is not judged by how many points you can score on offense , but by how much sand you can kick in Tressel’s face.

Uhh SiC, Jimmy was almost 500 in conf in second year. Over 500 third. RR was?
All kidding aside I like RR as he has shown himself to be. Remember that I became a fan of Michigan while spending a month at Motts.
Does anyone believe that you can stop Most anyone in the Big 10, 11, 12, or whatever we are these days with a 3-3-5? Moo U? Nope! Iowa? Nope! Pen State? Nope! Ole Stinky U? Nope! Glen Mason's Minnesota? Nope! Thank God for Danny Hope!

FWIW- there are 2 things everyone in the alumni section is talking about- the waived off 1st period goal, & firing R2. Opinion is 100% united on the waived goal. About 50-50 on R2.

Jim coaches in a fail conference.

Quick you interweb smart people, when was the last time the Pac 10 filled all it's bowl slots? Anyone?

The Pac 10 is so down it's not funny. And oh by the way, Oregon hung HALF A HUNDRED PLUS on your beloved Jimmy "can i have an extra shot of the good sauce please" Harbaugh.

Big Ten WAY UP this year, Pac 10 not so much or even close. Just read what you write, it's comical.

Jim Harbaugh said Michigan couldn't lick the sweat off of his condom a few years back and now you want to lick the sweat off of his condom?

/wake up

/end rant

I'm guessing that was directed at me? Big ten way up? We damn near lost to UMass.
For the record, I'm for the Hat!

no brother that is aimed @ all the Harbaugh lovers. Big Ten way up in the sense that there's 3 Big Ten teams in the top ten. That's what I mean.

Harbaugh is winning with Walt Harris' players.
