U-M AD, Fans: Torn Between Two Coaches (aka Being Dave Brandon: The Musical)

While we may kid around here at the MZone, we fully understand how difficult the coaching decision facing Michigan AD Dave Brandon is.  That's because many Michigan fans feel the same way and are torn about what to do as well.

On the one hand, under Rich Rodriguez, the Wolverine offense has become explosive, almost the entire team is coming back, Rich Rod is a proven winner at previous coaching stops and nobody wants to start over from scratch.

And yet...

The Wolverines struggled against the top Big 10 teams again this season, the defense continues to show a lack of improvement and the kicking game is non-existent.

On top of all that, there is one other potential coaching option out there that even the most ardent Rich Rod supporter simply can't ignore.  A name that has to at least be considered.

Yes, this is no time for our funny side here at the MZone.  There's a reason Dave Brandon is struggling with making the correct coaching decision for 2011 and beyond.

In fact, if one were to put what's going on to music* - like say a Michigan blog whose founder has waaaaay too much time on his hands - it might go something like the video below.

So while Brian at MGoBlog put up a post yesterday called Being Dave Brandon, think of this as Being Dave Brandon: The Musical.

* No, that song was NOT on my iPod. I got it off YouTube. I'm hurt by the question.

PS  See!  You see what happens when you lose to your bitter rival SEVEN *&^% YEARS IN A ROW?!  I've become the blogging equivalent of Col. Kurtz at the end of Apocalypse Now.

Here's the current Number One song at Stanford:

You folks are officially over the edge. That's dry heave material.

I've gone from mildly amused at your predicament to abject pity.

whet - looking up the term "abject pity" in the dictionary and this is the result:
"a college football team that has a Heisman trophy candidate, one of the best offenses and defenses in the country and they can't even get to the Rose Bowl"

Life is hard at the top of the heap, but the view is better.

Hey Auburn and Oregon fit the description and can't even get to the Rose Bowl either..

That is sick and wrong.

And don't think you can get away with lying to us about your IPod. You know this song is on your "most played" list along with:

You Light Up my Life by Debby Boone,
The Way We Were by Barbra Streisand
every song The Carpenters ever recorded.

Andy's right. Hence, my use of the term "abject pity."

Sad, so sad.

Okay, Andy - busted.

As for this piece, you know how when you first come up with an idea at midnight and it seems f'ing hilarious. But then when you finish, you're still laughing, but more in a "what the hell was I thinking?!" way?

Although, YouTube boned me by giving away the punchline of the whole thing with the JH pic in the preview window. I changed it but it still hasn't updated itself.

that is, absolutely, the best, and worst thing you've ever put together.

i'm utterly speechless about almost every aspect of it.

So when did you come back?

Yost said...

BiB! Good to see you. I came back at the beginning of the season. It was just supposed to be a quick post or two to release some creative energy but, well, Andy somehow talked me into keeping the site going again. (Damn you, Aaaaandy!)

So, countless hours later, here we are. Thanks for stopping by!

Hey, conspiracy theorists--
Harbaugh won't be attending the Michigan Football Bust team banquet this Thursday. Hmmmmm.

I was having a discussion with someone at Burnt Orange Nation about possible coaching changes, and believe it or not, Harbaugh's name somehow came up. I came here to do a little research on the snit he caused among your ranks back in '07, and lo and behold here you are.

For what it's worth, I believe that you don't pass on a special coaching talent. I believe we've got that with Muschamp, and that Harbaugh is the guy for the Maize and Blue.

Great to see you back in the saddle. The interwebs weren't the same without ye. We'll be in touch.

i'm so very very happy to stumble upon this blog again, welcome back and thank you for providing me yet another entertaining outlet of all things Michigan football...that being said, that guy @ Stanford not so much. I'll give you some words used by a guy named Carr, "elitist, arrogant, self serving" describing this guy named Jim.

I honestly hope that he isn't even considered. Reasons being and their solid, the Pac 10 is WAY DOWN this year exception being Oregon who OH BY THE WAY HUNG HALF A HUNDRED on Stanford this year and the Big 10 is up, WAY up in that it was a brutal year and schedule for RR this season. So far up that 3, that's THREE Big 10 teams reside in the top 10. RR deserves to at least see his own seniors on the field, anything less would be commensurate with the Tyrone Willingham failure by Notre Dame superceded only buy giving fatbastard +2 to prove his ineptness.

So much to say and i'll be back to give other maybe not considered inputs for your eyesockets to absorb.

RR for at least 2 more, anything less is criminal and unbecoming Michigan, who to be fair have afforded every coach in recent (last what 80 years) history at least 5 years.

/end rant

ps- Harbaugh has a losing record vs Cal.

/just sayin'
