(HT to SiC for the Titanic idea & bigGexpress for the image)

Penn State beats Michigan 41-31 with a walk-on QB.

Yes folks, it is time to start cleaning house.

Jim.... if you are out there, PLEASE help us.

Seriously, what are the odds Harbaugh would come here if asked, begged, whatever? I've heard so many reasons why it wouldn't happen. Someone tell me why it will happen, please?

This will be hashed over and over for the next 2 months -- and I hope anyone connected with the Michigan Athletic Department stays calm until Stanford is done with their season. We do not need another Les Miles situation.

But Jim Harbaugh should come here because he belongs here. He went to high school here. He went to college here. His Dad coached here. But most importantly, Michigan needs him and he is a good football coach.

Yeah, we definitely don't need another herbie situation.

I need to give credit where it is due. Sic came up with the titanic idea with the "stand on the stern while the band plays "Nearer My God to Thee"" comment. That is just the image that popped in my head. That's why this blog is so great. Humor and a sense of reality.

Thanks. I fixed the HT.

My TItanic trivia knowledge is limited.

As a man it should be. In H.S. I was forced to watch that movie three times in history classes.

i was a history major, & have two teen daughters. one way or the other, "Titanic" is in my wheel house whether i like it or not.

and thanks for the assist. i need the stats.

when this is all said & done, if R2 is going to go, it's going to be because of his record.

to quote another movie- it's not personal. it's just business.

I have another question about Harbaugh. I remember hearing at the end of the LC era that he had made some kind of comment that pissed off the alma matre and alienated him from any chance of ever getting the job. What was it? Or did it even happen? I missed it. Because in my opinion we should "give him an offer he can't refuse."

and fittingly, Titanic is on TBS right now

Not trying to hijack this beautiful thread, but I am glad that the "duckstar" is still on track and Kiffin didn't get to play the role of skywalker or lone star or whatever the duckstar represents.

Thanks bob, so he basically dropped a bit of truth and people couldn't swallow it. Am I right or am I off base?

Bob, you'll notice in your link that Mike Hart took issue with Harbaugh's accusations that Michigan steers it's football players towards easy majors.....Mike Hart, who majored in General Studies...

In keeping with the RR psalm motif:

"Since my people are crushed, I am crushed; I mourn, and horror grips me.
Is there no balm in Gilead? Is there no physician there? Why then is there no healing for the wound of my people?

wv = "prize." Ouch. Something prophetic this way comes.

While I would like to see Harbaugh come to Michigan, I don't think it is going to happen. And I'm still gonna be on the Paul Johnson bandwagon, but that's not going to happen either. However, I am off the Rich Rod bandwagon. I like what he's done for Michigan's offense but there are two sides to the ball. It is nice when you create an offense that can generate over 30 points a game but when your defense also gives up over 30 points a game...not so good. While I like Denard, I'll have to agree with Hamm from the other post, there are other players on the team. It seems that with a player like him they could use more creative play calling. Oh well.

Sru

Harbaugh's comments were focused on the Kinesiology program commonly used by the M football program to house marginally qualified players. Hart graduated from the School of Literature, Science, and Arts (LSA). Apples and oranges. Hart was pissed at Harbaugh for calling out Michigan to justify the potential failure of his seemingly (at the time) impossible plight to compete in the Pac10.

The fact the Hart got a BGS degree only means he chose not to take four semesters of a foreign language. I know many very smart people that took that same path.

What are Harbaugh's coaching goals? Will UM be a final destination for him or does he really want to compete with his brother in the NFL?
