Decision 2008: Signing Day!

Screw Super Tuesday, it's Super Wednesday. And now...

We wait. We wait to find out if we have a QB.

That the fortunes of our offense - and possibly the upcoming 2008 season - rest with the decision of a soon-to-be freshman is more than a little scary. Although, all indications are he's Tosu bound.

For cyin' out loud! I haven't been this nervous waiting to get an answer from a high school kid since I asked Angie T. to prom.

UPDATE: Brian at MGoBlog is reporting Pryor now isn't going to announce today because Penn State is "creeping up on" him.

According to Hemayormaynotbefullofshitbutdamnishecute.com I, yes the Mzone's own obsessive commenter have been offered a scholarship qb position and we've dropped "that Pryor kid" as Tom now refers to him. And by Tom I mean Rich Rodriguez, but since I'm hella good and I think he looks more like a "Tom" than a "Rich" he lets me call him Tom. Oh, and I've also developed the ability to breathe fire, which will heretofore be completely legal and compliment my stiff-arming ability on each and every play. (Thanks to T9's pet dragon Puff for teaching me that nifty move- and "Puff"? Really? Originality = not-so-much on the Dragon names there T) So yeah, I'm pretty much King of Ann Arbor now, the line for free Cottage Inn and a big piece of the Joshter starts to my left, only women full of the hotness need apply. See you in the endzone! I'm Audi 5000, or whatever slang phrase for leaving makes me supercalafragalistic and shit!

----------------

He's not signing today and may not even appear on the show on ESPNU. My apologies for being redundant, but my witty-ness has gone on strike until he signs, plus I wanted to make sure OOC got his dose of rumor before having to do actual work.

Bigasshammm said...

I think he'll appear on the show... only to say that it's now between TO$U and MI. Eliminating Oregon and PSU like they ever really had a chance anyway. Then in about another month he'll hold press conferences everyday while thousands of media hounds line up to suck his dick and finally choose TO$U because their prostitutes are better.

Then after 6 months of playing he'll be found inelligible for taking gifts at which point he will sue the NFL to enter the draft early and then go rob nightclubs at gunpoint.
Oh wait...

Yost, the suspense is killing me... I can't take it... I just have to know... what'd Angie say?

Thanks, Josh!

And as a peace offering to T9 for not getting my point across very well in the anti-racism post - I'll say that she and Katie qualify to be at the start of your line to the left.

Nate said...

He's not signing today so he can take an official visit to Penn State. I think this kid's growing tiresome.

Rich is cleaning up this morning so far...two recruits have switched earlier committments Branum-C (from Fla to UM) & Roundtree-WR (from Purdue to UM).....go gettm.....Richey!

WingRG said...

The way i look at it, if he doesn't want to play by the rules (sign with the rest of his class) we don't need him. The last thing OSU needs is another 13, who'll think he's G-d's gift to college football and he's bigger than the program that existed (and won championships) long before he was born.

If he wants to play by the rules, he'll be a great addition to ANY team. If he wants to be a "ME FIRST" guy, good luck to any team that gets him.

Joshua said...

Oregon's back in the mix? Seriously? Pryor's becoming the hot girl who overplays her hand. You know the one- you don't want to dump her because damn she's just so f-ing hot!- and all your friends would try to get you a room next to Britney's in the loony bin if you did- and she's great on paper but behind closed doors she's not that great in bed and kinda insane. You know, kinda what I picture Eva Longoria to be like in real life.

Remember gentleman- no matter how hot she is, somebody somewhere is sick of putting up with her shit.

We've got two switched commitments today? Sweet!

Nate said...

There's no way Eva Longoria is bad in bed, at least I refuse to believe it

This makes for worse tv than the NFL draft. Half these kids shouldn't even be in front of a tv set let alone be allowed to speak into a microphone. This has been the first and last time I will ever watch or even really care about a signing day. I don't see what the big deal is anyway when everything changes in college and you can never tell exactly how good a kid is going to do.

The Nick Perry loss stung but you knew he was going to take USC over MI. Song girl make all the difference.

Catie said...

He is probably a great kid, but just YESTERDAY he said he was 100% going to sign today. Now today he is 100% NOT going to sign? Give me a F**cking break!

The same thing happens with men.....a woman has a choice between a few different men.....it really doesn't matter a whole bunch who you choose, as long as the plumbing works and you are guaranteed Playing time, a good woman can make whatever choice she makes the right choice........however, if you wait to long to decide, the men just might lose interest.

I have lost interest in this kid, but I will say, if we don't get him, I hope it is Penn State who gets him, rather than tOSU.

Ok....back to my philosophy paper.....

Tom C said...

In todays paper here in Columbia SC. says rr is likely to win case against wv.

Nate said...

thanks for throwing RR v. WVU in here, now go away

Tom C said...

wassa matter nate? don't like to read?

Lysa said...

More GRRR

Sam Mcguffie is considering Cal. WTF! He is not even a solid commit according to Rivals!

WTF

grr

Joshua said...

"wassa matter nate? don't like to read?"

roflmao. classic.

Yeah Lys, looks like McGuffie might be wavering. Where the hell did that come from? On the plus side we've got speed, speed and more speed in this class with or without him.

Nate said...

haha, actually I don't really like to read. I was just amazed that you found a way to throw a RR contract article in there.

Feelin' Blue said...

I really like Justin Feagin so far. He seems like a nice kid. Definitely not the "me first" type that wing mentioned.

Goddammit Penn St. Those dirtbags have been in third place for years and are now trying to put us in dead place.

TitleIX said...

hugs to OOC.

so I may be a big pollyanna, but listening to Pryor speak today he strikes me as a 17-18 yo kid who is focused on the basketball season and in an effort to be fair, he wants to make a considered decision regarding school......
we fanatics are the ones pushing for committment

guys can't multi-task let alone make a committment! sheez. ;-)

I bet he comes here.
No inside info on that one, I just can't believe that in a head to head contest re: playing opportunity, exciting offense, and educational merit he wouldn't pick Michigan.

TitleIX said...

here's a weird thing...
if you go to mgoblue.com and check out the list of student-athletes who signed letters of intent today the listing includes the kids' high school coach!???

huh???

why???

unless it's all about the adults and their egos...
or slurping the coach???

bleck.

Tom C _ enjoyed your blog. I mentioned this in a older post, but you prob didn;t see it- sorry for the repeat, but it bears - touched by your scored first bit. Good luck and glad too hear you're keeping your head up. I'm from Chucktown (but I live in GVL now) - enjoyed the pics.

Joshua said...

"guys can't multi-task let alone make a committment! "

T9 if you weren't already taken I'd SO take that challenge. Provided I'd get a chance to multi-task before making the commitment. ;P

TitleIX said...

the more multitasking the better....

Joshua said...

Of course the more multi-tasking the better! How am i expected to make a commitment if I'm not certain you can cook my dinner AND do my laundry at the same time?

Zing!

Lysa said...

Mcguffie is in!

WHOO HOO!!!

Tom C said...

OOC I did indeed miss it the first time, but thanks again. It's always nice when someone takes a moment to read my mess. Thanks also for the best wishes.
Caught Spurriers press today, he seems happy with his class but with him it's hard to say.

tom/ooc,
not to intrude into your very public private conversation BUT,,,

couldn't help but notice your interest in the low country.

FWIW, i own a small place in SC on an island near hilton head. good part of the family now lives in Beaufort.

share your appreciation for the area and its cuisine/culture.

Tom C said...

Surrounded, lets get the rest of this gang and go get some sea boogers and crabcakes Charleston style!

surrounded in columbus said...

tom,
one of the best ideas posted on this blog since someone first suggested Lloyd open up the offense more (which was in 1998, i think).

though my favorite is still shrimp & grits....

detnews.com is reporting this morning Pryor has stated his decision is postponed indefinitely.

hmmmm... why does the name Alex Legion keep popping in my head????

zen wizard said...

Vis-a-vis Oregon, Left Coast is a real culture shock to a Midwestern kid, which might be a psychological hurdle.

whetstonebuck said...

"detnews.com is reporting this morning Pryor has stated his decision is postponed indefinitely."

What? Did his transcript finally arrive?

Tom C said...

Boy waits much longer and he'll be going to the dance by himself.

LOL Whets

surrounded in columbus said...

a friend from the Pitt area tells me that the rumor there (note, neither of us claim to be reporting "the truth", just "the rumor") is that Pryor really wants to keep play b-ball in college and he's waiting for one of the coaches to blink and give him a blanket "ok" to skip future spring practices while b-ball's still going on.

surrounded in columbus said...

speaking of Det News articles- anyone else catch this- http://www.detnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080207/SPORTS0201/802070464/1131???

if you recall, everyone sort of thought Lloyd left the starters in a couple TDs past usual against Purdue last season. rumor (yeah, i'm big on rumors today) had it that Lloyd had finally gotten pissed over Tiller's stream of unattributed negative statements about Michigan football to TSN over the years.

well, R2 is already on Tiller's list as he's pissed about the Trotwood Madison receiver flipping at the last minute and signing w/ us. he's pretty rude, the way only a short timer can be.

I just finished a press conference to announce I still can't decide what to have for lunch...

Joshua said...

In anticipation of us becoming beyond awesome again *cough* Ninja Football*cough*, I'm just wondering, what comes after "F Michigan"?

Out of Conference said...

SiC - what island near HH? That part of the world is a happening place right now. If you haven't been down lately, you may not recognize it.

Congrats on the class, Michigan. With the class you and Bama racked up, I wonder if trends be a changing in your respective heated rivalry games.

Jim said...

"G Michigan"?

Bigasshammm said...

Dammit Jim you beat me to it.

Joshua said...

Would that stand for "Giggity-giggity Michigan?"

Tom C said...

ROFLMAO @ Joshua.
I thought I'd pick something up here hanging with the smart kids....... still laughing.

ooc,
it's Fripp. our place is actually in the background of one of the scenes in forest gump.

i get down about 3-4 times a year, between vacations & working on the place (the salt air about doubles the work).

i'm stunned by the changes just in the last 5 years, but most of the east/north side of the county is still pretty natural, but that's changing too.

Good one on the transcript, Whetstone...
