Former Buckeye first round draft pick Alonzo "I smile for mugshots" Spellman was arrested Wednesday in Tulsa after leading police on a chase which ended with the cops having to fire pepper-spray bullets into his vehicle after he refused to exit.According to the AP story linked above, Spellman was booked into the Tulsa County Jail on complaints of eluding, assault with a deadly weapon on a police officer, resisting arrest and driving without a license.
Police said the most damning evidence against the ex-Tosu great was was the full Beard & Buckstache he was sporting at the time of his arrest.

You ever been to Tulsa ? That's the only thing to do for fun.
Speaking of refusing to open up for the cops. I read in the papers that a bunch of Winthrop athletes(small school in Rock Hill, SC) were arrested at a keg party over the weekend. Several had padlocked themselves into a small room in the apartment with the kegs when the cops showed up and kept partying and playing music. Nice!
Damn the man!
Guys - just so you know, Spellman has some mental problems that led directly to his retirement from the NFL. I can't remember if it was specifically bipolar disorder or what, but it was definitely something. Not to excuse criminal behavior - just a point. Keep up the good work.
I think smiling for mugshots a la Tom DeLay is the way to go. Nothing is more pathetic than the sad-sack looking mugshot.
What's up with Bucknuts, mental problems, and jail?
sucks that his bad personality is always the one that gets caught ;)
Spellman was diagnosed with severe bipolar disorder while playing with the Bears. This isn't his first run-in with the law, due to his condition.
