And the Father of the Year Award goes to...

A "father," mad that his 7-year-old son wouldn't wear a Packers jersey during the team's playoff game last Saturday, restrained the boy for an hour with tape and taped the jersey onto him.

Thankfully, Daddy Dearest was arrested after his (hopefully, soon-to-be ex) wife told authorities. Apparently, they didn't believe her...until she showed them the pix she took on her cellphone.

The man claims the incident started as a joke when his son said he wouldn't root for Green Bay. Dad says the boy was laughing while mom took pictures.

"Then he couldn't get out and he got upset and that's it. It lasted a minute," he said. "I didn't mean no harm, and he knows that, but I haven't been able to tell him that."

One minute...or one hour. Somebody's story is off by, oh, 59 minutes.

If this turns out to be true, I think they should send him to a local jail cell, tape a Bears jersey to him...then tape him to the jail floor for an hour. See how that works out for him.

Nothing new here. This has gone on for years in Columbus as young OSU fans go through a right of passage.
The only difference from the story is the addition of burning couches and the trailer home.

i think even young osu fans know the difference between 'rite' and wrong though

It sounds like that there is more to the story than this one incident. This is probably this man's wake up call....I hope he listens.

you know this difference between this incident and how it would have turned out if dad had been a tosu fan taping the jersey to a kid in columbus???

in columbus, the police would have arrested the mother.

How do you think I became a WVU fan? I don't see anything wrong with this.

A BEARS jersey? What a splendid idea!

All this for just taping a Packers jersey to the kid? A Packers jersey and the cops are involved? I can see it if it were Lions jersey.. hell, the Dad should be thrown under the jail, but a Packers jersey? The Dad is just trying to teach the boy that you can't go through life rooting for losers. Next thing you know, the Dad is going to be in trouble for brushing his kid back when he crowds the plate in a round of pitch and hit fun in the backyard.

Actually, they should tape the Dad to the floor of the jail cell "on all fours" for an hour, and see how he likes them apples.

This is not the first time a parent in any state has made a kid wear something the kid doesn't like. I do, however, have a huge problem with a parent who physically restrains his kid in such a manner for ANY purpose.

Smart kid, must know how big of a tool his dad is and knew that rooting for the Packers would make him a tool too.

Just another reason why Packer fans are the most obsessed fans in the NFL.

Makes me sick...

This happened about 30 miles from where I live. He taped his hands and feet together. Then taped the jersey on him. I hope he gets bent over in the columbia county jail for this shit! I agree with the last post .... Packer Fans are just sick! We were able to wear football shirts/jerseys(they wanted all packer crap) to work on Thursday. I wore my Michigan #2 Jersey for Charles!!!
