Interesting. I couldn't watch the entire clip, it was a bit more than my soul could take this morning.

Am I the only one that thinks tOSU fans sound slightly "retarded" (for lack of a better word) when I hear them say the "I" - "O" of the O-H-I-O chant?

Not a dog in the fight, but isn't it, "Hang on Sloopy" and not "Snoopy"?!?

Anyone ever see the intro to the movie "Idiocracy"? I think you've found a transition between entertainment and real life.

Jost said...

Katie - you were reading my mind. I was starting to feel bad for the little retarded guy - poor fella could hardly keep his eyes open.

And who ever knew Geo Metro's had suck kick-ass stereo systems?

Yost---
What did we do to you to deserve this thing on a Monday morning???
You disappear for days and do we ask questions???
No.
We stand by our man...
Yet this is how you treat us upon your return?
We've been nothing but loyal and patient.
We've given you space when you needed it, and witty remarks as well. All we ask in return is clever posts and maybe a healing photo once in a while....
But now we have to be tortured by the refrains of Sloopy all day????

I (sob)
just (sob)
don't (sob)
under- (sob)
staand.......

Listen... I am the most un-PC person on the face of the planet. Unfortunately, I know what the inside of the Human Resources director's office looks like.

But I cringe when I see the word retarded used that way. I'm not trying force my values upon nor censoring anyone, but take a peek at this recent Daily article for one person's perspective (and mostly just the last 3 paragraphs).

Sorry 93, I most certainly did not mean to offend. I think I was trying to be "light" compared to my recent melancholy posts. I think I might need to find a rock and come out when I am in a better frame of mind! NO MORE INTERNET FOR KATIE UNTIL SHE PULLS HERSELF TOGETHER! (ok, maybe that is a bit harsh, how about I just limit my access slightly ;o)

MGoBlue93 said...

No offense taken!!!

Good luck with your end of term activities as well... do PhD candidates have finals?

Katie said...

I am not a candidate yet! I am in the course work, and no finals, final papers (of which 2 of my profs did not approve of my work, so I must redo them, oh the joy of the first semester......I don't think I have had this much fun....in.....well......ever! This too shall pass :o)

10 seconds in and I'm tasting bile in my mouth. That's about as far as I can go. I received a terrible email over the weekend of a new motivational poster. I'll have to email it to Yost and see if he posts it. It's not good for UM fans but I did chuckle none the less. Go Blue.

Bigasshammm said...

Anyone know how I do that? Can't seem to find an email listed. Let me know.

I don't think that dude was retarded. I think he was high...Chinese eyes and all.

Anyways, I was half expecting to see the car slammed into someone...I don't mind idiots but when their idiocy affects others, it crosses the line.

It is posted on the left (encrypted so to speak)

More proof that VICTORY is intoxicating.

Oh, scoff all you want, they have been nominated for a grammy. It's the "non-rap school spirit that doesn't involve a stripper" category.

Also, the Dove awards may be contacting this duet. Squinty Spice was able to get in a "thank the Lord" which qualifies for consideration. I must admit, I was on the verge of a religious experience.

MGoBlue93 said...

Dare I ask... what are the Dove awards?

whetstonebuck said...

93,

"The Gospel Music Association (GMA) Dove Awards were created in 1969 by the Gospel Music Association to honor the outstanding achievements in Christian music ..."

MGoBlue93 said...

Oh... and thanks. One never knows with some of the wit which can fly around this forum and I thought it was something deviant.

whetstonebuck said...

Deviant? Moi?

93, I'm shocked, disappointed and saddened. I'm going to play this video again and drink in its positive message.

Jost said...

Ok - I would like to formally withdraw my "retarded" comment. I think everyone else has done a good job of accurately describing this soon to be GED recipient.

The only thing I could think of while watching that was this song from the Wizard of Oz....

I could while away the hours
Conferrin' with the flowers
Consultin' with the rain
And my head, I'd be scratchin'
While my thoughts were busy hatchin'
If I only had a brain....

The perfect answer to the guys who drive around Ann Arbor on gameday with the pictures of dead fetuses@

whetstonebuck said...

Andy,

Isn't that sung to the same tune as the Michigan Hymn of Hope:

"If We Only Had a Coach?"

zen wizard said...

That song is sort of like "La Bamba" for people who don't speak Spanish.

whetstonebuck said...

Well, Zen,

Looks like we killed this thread. I guess coach search jokes are better left unsaid.

I have to agree with Mikoyan, the dude closest to the camera was more than half-way lit up. Probably threw in a coupla beers in there too, it was a cold day.
I understand why people take videos of themselves in the spur of the moment, but posting it on YouTube is a little much. What's an advantage to having that posted on the web? It won't land you a job of an opera singer. Geffen records won't call you to offer you a recording deal.

ohio_wolverine said...

living in ohio...the sad part is the majority of the "holier than thou" act this way....sober or ripped!

Tom & Steph said...

Ohio State fan here. I promise not every one of us is like that.

Mikoyan said...

Like I said, I half expected the last shot of the clip to be, "Oh shit" followed by the motion of slamming brakes, followed by the sound of crunching metal. I would say sadly that didn't happen but I really wouldn't want those idiots to inflict harm upon others. They've inflicted enough harm with their singing.

MGoBlue93 said...

Probably threw in a coupla beers in there too, it was a cold day.

Those look like palm trees in the background.

WingRG said...

MGB93,

i didn't subject myself to the whole video (i'm not into self-torture). You might be right. I was under impression that this was recorded after the UM game (in A2), but if you say there're palm trees in the background i'm clearly wrong.

Either way, both of them look anibriated (which doesn't help their awful to begin with singing).

phillip said...

Yeah - looks like they were just returning from watching the game at a bar. How about that?

Dan Isaacs said...

I think if anything, this is a anti-driving while drunk video. Of course, you know what they asay about being drunk, you only speak the truth.

And golly, how they are speaking the truth. OH-IO

Enjoy DickRod.
