Lazy Monday

Busy weekend, no time to post.

So, let's throw up an open thread here and see what happens.

Here's my question for everyone: What is your prediction on Michigan's record for the 2007 season? Explain.

I believe Henne and Hart will get injured --they will accidentally run into each other. That will then bring in Mallett and Minor and who will guide the Wolverines to an undefeated season, big 10 championship, lopsided win over OSU, and will squeak by a win over USC.

don't really have a clue about the record - and only 'really' care about one game.

i think the bigger storyline behind this years 'big blue' season is 'WHAT'S ON THE LINE?' for UM this season.

-possibly LLoyd's last season - eggs in a basket type thing.

-several UM 'superstars' going out with how many bowl wins? how many OSU wins?

-etc.

this could be a gut wrenching season for the maize & blue. i understand every game is a must win situation in the BCS era, but there is going to be a lot of 'squirming in your seat-type' Saturday afternoon/evening for Wolverine fans.

'must win' won't due it justice - promise i won't stare!

Barring a major injury to one of our horses, 13-0 is very realistic. Sure, I'm a Big Blue honk, but really, Henne, Hart and Long have something to prove. They'll compensate for an average (by U/M standards) defense and outscore everyone. tosu has got theirs coming this year.....20 point blowout minimum.

How is this for low expectations: One or Two losses. Defense lets us down in one B10 game (We lose to someone other than Ohio State, perhaps Wisconsin?) and we keep our bowl momentum.

As an outsider looking in, I think Oregon gives you a tougher game than what you'd normally expect. You squeak that win, but lose one to either Penn State or Wisky. I don't see tOSU as a challenge except you can throw out expectations, skill, records ,etc. and add head games when that game comes around. With your schedule, I don't know that I see Michigan playing in the MNC this year even with an undefeated record unless either SoCal or the SEC team dejoir has 2 losses or Michigan freaking absolutely dominates every team it faces- possible with your talent and the weak B10 brethren. I really would love to see a Michigan v. SEC championship game.

I'm with you OOC... I cannot believe how many national articles there are which are trumpeting Michigan's schedule. Why?

Another thing I'm seeing a lot of in the press, SEC nation getting down on Les Miles. What has Les done wrong?

We're going to beat OSU and Wisconsin (Wisconsin can't beat us, where have you people been), but it's not going to matter because we're going to drop a game we really shouldn't. Oregon stands out as especially dangerous. Penn State too.

Defense wins Championships and we don'tt have the defense to go 13-0.

Well, since the poll folks put you in the point position figure on having the big target on your back. I’m glad it’s you guys this time around. I see it as the kiss of death.

With that said and your coaching issues, I would estimate two or three losses. If you lose to Wisconsin, I don’t think your boys will have enough heart (Hart) left to stave off an OSU team that smells blood in the water. Consequently, three loses.

If you don’t beat tOSU with the advantages you have this year, I would predict a suicide spike the week after the game.

Beware Notre Dame. They’re looking for respect. Mucho peligroso.

Yost,
coming out of the stadium following our win in the 100th M-Tosu game, as pleased as i was w/ the win, i couldn't help but be disappointed by the overall season.

we had a great team, good enough to play for, maybe even win a national championship in the sugar bowl. we had beaten ND, TOSU, won the conference title, and were headed for the rose bowl.

but we also had a couple of stupid ass losses to teams, Oregon & Iowa, that were both decent but not really top 10 caliber. in both of those losses, we had really played a great game on offense and defense, statistically dominated, but couldn't punt or cover punts, had a kick or two blocked, and had lost by a close score when the comebacks came up short.

had we avoided either (not both) of those losses, Michigan would have play OU in the Sugar Bowl.

i guess this my long winded way of saying that i'm optimistic about the season, predicting some big wins, a conference title, and a bcs bowl, but in the end, it's the same Lloyd Carr we've had the last 5 or 6 seasons. even in the good years, he finds the way to drop one or two we should have won.

he'll do that this year, too.

an early loss to oregon or PSU will have me ready to jump off a cliff before the team goes on a great run. A big win vs OSU and a narrow bowl victory will have us claiming we should have had a shot at the title.

Okay. Notre Dame wins 30-27 or 30-29 or 29-27 or you can take what's behind curtain number three.

Poor guy.

I don't see any offensive weaknesses. I have watched Michigan football for thirty years, and only recall a limited number of suspect defenses. I think they have the potential of going all the way. I would like to see the "big three" end their college careers on positive notes. I think many will be surprised by the tenacity of The 2007 Michigan DEFENSE !

I predict UM will go undefeated heading into the BCS NC game in a rematch against USuCk. USC will again win but not with the same devastation as before. And we'll see Donovan Warren make ROJO look like the fool that he is.

1-6, bitches!!!

As a Buckeye Fan, it pains me to admit that I believe that Big Blue will go undefeated at least through the regular season. I think the team will much resemble that of the 2006 OSU team, but hopefully not the same results in the Title Game.

Good luck in all but one game this year.

No. 20 stays healthy all season long, dispelling any lingering myths that he is prone to injury...

No. 20 vintage!

I'm very excited to see Manningham play a full season too...

No. 86 deep threat!

I guess, when it comes down to it, I am most worried about injuries. This season has disappointment written all over it, but moreso because there is a huge potential for big things this year. NT game or bust in 2007!!

No Defense = No Championships.....and THAT's the bottom line.....

In an odd twist similar to 1997 and Tom Osborne, Lloyd announces his retirement late in the regular season. However, since no one likes Lloyd, Michigan actually drops in the polls unlike Osborne. The drop causes Michigan a shot at the BCS. You read it here first...
