The Bigger House?

The Dallas Cowboys are in the midst of building a new stadium in Arlington, Texas that, structurally at least, will be the largest football stadium in America. The one billion dollar stadium will be 750 feet wide and reports say the Statue of Liberty will fit under its reclosable roof. No word, that we know of, on seating capacity.

Yet, no matter how big it is, it can't top the original "Big House," shown below during its dedication in 1927.

And contrary to popular opinion, no, this isn't the last time Michigan actually beat Ohio State (although it feels like it sometimes).

At least back in 1927 the crowd stood on big plays and cheered. What has happened in the 80 years. I bet the crowd was louder than then anytime last season.

Michigan needs something new to get the crowd involved. I propose letting a live wolverine loose on the field during halftime.

I would also like to point out that there were no KEYS jingling in the crowd.

The problem with the crowd is that many of the people who come to games in 2006 were also in attendance in 1927.

Also, I'm saddened to read that the Statue of Liberty will be moved into that stadium!

The traffic caused by the new stadium is insane so far. I'm not looking forward to driving to see The Rangers this season. At least the traffic beats the 2300 mile drive to A2.

Do you know if Jim Tressel is going to own the stadium in Arlington too?

Was that Troy Smith running around against the 1927 Wolverine defense ? No. That Michigan D actually tacked that Ohio State QB.

The music was necessary to drown out the "down in front" screams from the people in the stadium.

Andy - from the looks of the defense speed on that play in 1927, I'd say 99 years later, the SEC speed comes from snowbirds moving to Florida from Michigan.

I'm having trouble finding the inflatable penis in the video, purchased from SRS (Safe Relations Speakeasy).
