Anti-Michigan Site of the Day

MZone reader BK sends us this link, creatively titled michigan STILL SUCKS. After viewing the photos on the site, I found myself with a couple questions.

First, good to see the Buckeye state isn't obsessed with all things Michigan as one can tell by the Columbus Airport Walkway sign shown below. Even crazier - if you set off a metal detector, the TSA agents there are instructed to ask, "Do you have any metal objects in your pocket and what have you done to beat Michigan today?"

Also, is there a lack of indoor plumbing in Columbus or Ohio in general? I ask because of these pictures below...

I guess the picture near the Wolverine team bus was to give the police dogs outside the 'Shoe something to sniff when they're unleased on U-M Saturday.

Yost, I know you'll slam me but c'mon. The sign in the Columbus Airport is a joke perpetuated by the rivalry. I continually see these things posted on here and feel like it is some enormous slight to the state of Michigan. I find the sign funny and would if I saw it in a Michigan airport.

My suggestion is to embrass it not take everything so seriously.

CrimeNotes said...

This picture's a beauty. tOSU: producing angry thugs for generations.

Anon, when I flew into Columbus a few months back I recognized the airport sign as a funny joke -- on Columbus. Logan Airport doesn't have "Yankees Suck" signs. You'd have to scour the state of Michigan to find any public reference to the Buckeyes. My colleague and I (also a Michigan grad) spent the next five minutes laughing at your inferiority-complex dumbassery.

So yeah, the sign is pretty funny.

@crimenotes

Your linked picture is photoshopped. The original child is wearing Boston Red Socks attire.

I guess all the stairwells were already overflowing with urine.

Anonymous said...

sirnuke, I do believe that the photo you linked too is photoshopped as well. I think the REALLY REAL FO' REAL original is from a soccer match in europe (probably from the EPL). The kid is wearing a Kappa jersey (they make soccer jerseys).

Anonymous said...

crimenotes, I guess while you laugh at our inferiority-complex, I will sit back and laugh at your complete photoshopity-ignoromaty for posting that OBVIOUS photoshop.

So yeah, your lameness is pretty funny.

Falling in line with the "Heros" spelling at Kroger, I couldn't help but notice that on the Priceless poster, they proclaim to be marking their territory on the "Mighigan" team bus.

Actually, Anon 4:55, you are correct. The original for that famous little kid with the chicken on his hand was from Ajax, one of the top Soccer Teams in Europe (Holland). I've seen that kid dressed as an Ohio State fan, a Penn State fan, A Pittsburgh Steelers fan, A WVU fan, and just about every soccer team in England. If that kid gets royalties, he richer than Bill Gates.

I am married to a Buckeye, and work with Buckeyes, and it still amazes me how focused all of Ohio is on Michigan.

It's like the girl that dumped you in High School and you just can never get over it.

I know that tOSU only has 1 real rivalry, and the state of Ohio has only 1 major university.
where as Michigan has ND and MSU as rivals as well, plus add MSU as a major U in the state, and it's just a little different.

On the "Michiganstillsucks" website -

As John Kerry said "if you don't get a good education you end up in Iraq" - I guess that's why there's so many OSU pictures from Iraq!

No disrespect to anyone in the Military, my heart and prayers goes out to them and their families.

CrimeNotes said...

On photoshopping: I thought I saw that kid in the airport so I figured that it was legit.

HAHAHAHAHAHAH

that is bar none the most unintentionally retarded thing i've ever read

"hey, i heard that there was a lot of people from Ohio on that plane that was hijacked on 9-11 and crashed in pennsylvania! except they're so dumb they crashed in the wrong state!

...

no disrespect to anyone who died that day, my heart and prayers goes out to them and their families"

I want to know exactly what that Woody doll is doing (found about halfway down the home page.) He looks pretty good at that maneuver--almost like he's done it many, many times.

Let's review: It seems that well over half the entries on this blog are about Ohio State, Ohio State fans, Ohio State this, Ohio State that, Ohio State whatever you can make up.

Who are the ones with the obsession?

I guess 1 and 4 will do that to you. I can't wait to see what you come up with after you lose again this year.

Anonymous said...

What an embarrassment. How pathetic are Buckeye fans that they have that much energy to focus on Michigan? Doing it this week is one thing but they do this ALL YEAR. Get a life people. And get some class while you're at it!

WillinSacto said...

Nice to know its rivalry week. Go Blue, Beat the Bucks!

Just 1 Question to $uckeye fans:

Why do you wear your NUTS around your neck?

...

The only answer I can think of is:

Because you are a Richard Cranium

Andy said...

Why do all the buckeye fans in the last 2 photos feel the need to grab their peckers when they near the M equipment truck or stadium ?

You would think they were in the public library or something ?

srudoff said...

way to be topical andy!

hey we landed on the moon too!!!!!

Anon 7:52-

Why is there so much talk on this site about OSU? Let's see, it's an athletic blog, football season & OSU week. What an idiotic statement.

Plus, you are the one on a michigan football blog-site. Who is the obsessed one?

Andy said...

Topical ?

I referenced two of the three photos in this post. I also brought it back to a classic buckeye fan moment.

[sarcasm] Speaking of the moon... Did you know that the Apollo 15 mission featured an all Michigan crew ?[/sarcasm]

Anonymous said...

Did YOU know that one of the crew was given an honorary degree from Michigan? Yeah he actually went to school somewhere else

Also did YOU know that the Apollo 15 crew was suspended from active duty and never flew again because of an infamous stamp scandal? They were even kicked off of Apollo 17 because of it.

Wonder why that didn't show up in an Michigan PSA.....

Anonymous said...

Space, bitches. Space.

andrew said...

srudoff, when you say that "we" also landed on the moon, are you referring to that guy from the state of ohio, but who also had enough sense to NOT attend ohio state?

Neil Armstrong: Born in Ohio. Graduate of Purdue University. Masters from USC.

Maybe you'd like to toot your horn over John Glenn, another famous Ohio native and astronaut who did not attend ohio state.

Andy said...

Anon 11:55

Sarcasm = witty language used to convey insults or scorn...

andrew said...

cute, anon 11:55. what you fail to note is that the actions that took place during the so called stamp scandal were commonplace and completely legal. similar situations had occurred many times before, while NASA knew and turned a blind eye. they are victims of poor timing more than anything else.

Anonymous said...

And, the pissing contest begins. THE BIGGEST football week ever is now reduced to smack about astraunauts, cereal, etc.

Look what football does.

Go Blue!

I'm no space expert, so I did some research. Just so you have the facts clear next time you want to rant about Michigan in space:
Read on...and on...

The honorary degree was for the commander of Apollo 15 (David Scott). He was also the one that carried the stamps into space, which was not illegal.

It does not appear that the other two crew members (with real Michigan degrees) were involved. That team was removed as the backup on Apollo 17.

Jack Swigert was the only astronaut reprimanded for having initially denied having any involvement in similar schemes.

Interesting note: In March 2002 astronauts Nancy Currie and Richard Linnehan (Both Ohio State grads) carried Ohio commemorative quarter-dollar coins into space aboard the Space Shuttle Columbia. This time NASA approved of the extra cargo...

Anonymous said...

Sorry typo- astronauts

srudoff said...

Andrew

Nancy Currie an OSU grad, has booked over 1000 hours in space on the shuttles

Robert Henry Lawrence J was the first ever African American Astronaut but died in a plane crash before going in space.

Ronald Sega and Richard Linnehan are also Ohio State astronauts

Now Glenn and Armstrong might not have gone to OSU, but let's not forget that the Unabomber graduated from Michigan (something Charles Woodson can't say)and still has name on a plaque there

srudoff said...

hahah looks like you beat me to the post about some of the ohio astronauts

the apollo 15 crew was removed from active duty because they didn't follow procedure. in the past that was a common practice HOWEVER people put that stuff on the manifest - these guys didn't do that and actually hid them in the suit of one of the astronauts.

it's funny how you claim the honorary degree guy in the space.bitches.space rants, but are quick to disassociate with him after you found out that he did something he shouldn't have

Andy said...

Kinda like Maurice Clarett ?

speaking of "topical", let's not forget the Wright Brothers were from Ohio. and US Grant, and 8 presidents.

and while we're at it, so were Charles Woodson, and Desmond Howard, and Elvis Grbac.

and Mario Manningham and Prescott Burgess...

see how nicely this all circles back to football???

Anonymous said...

Prescott Burgess????

You mean the guy that wasted 3 years at UM?

The guy that will finish 1-3 vs OSU (like Crable)???

I actually feel bad for him honestly

js said...

Methinks that guy (David Scott) actually went to Michigan but didn't graduate.

He received an "honorary degree"

Kinda like the ones Tim Allen got from Western Michigan, Billy Joel got from Long Island University, Mike Tyson got from Central State, and Nancy Reagan received from the University of Michigan

Anonymous said...

And now, to randomly chnage the subject:

The state of Michigan has never had on of its citizens be elected President of the United States.

Andy said...

Are you saying that honorary degrees are bad ?

Ohio State sure gives out a lot of them including Neil Armstrong, John Glenn, Hal Holbrook, Bob Hope, Spiro Agnew (disgraced Nixon VP), President Bush (x2), and former Michigan captain Gerald Ford.

I take offense to that. I guess wearing our NUTS on our neck is so your MOM has better access to lick them. Just thought I would keep the sophomore humor going.

Yeah, I think that, "First, good to see the Buckeye state isn't obsessed with all things Michigan" doesn't hit as hard when it's followed by three bits talking shit about Ohio.

srudoff said...

they aren't bad, they just aren't earned and they don't allow you to say that 3 "michigan men" manned apollo 15 either.

Or, alternatively, he actually went to Michigan in 1949 and 1950.

funny how it's not on any official biography of his - i'd probably be embarassed as well.

i have pissed on the O in the middle of the field in the shoe one night when our band bus (University of Toledo Drumline) spent the night in C-town. The stadium was left completely unlocked (hello?) and no security guards to be found. they probably were drinking with the team.

Carmen Ohio was played in space

Andy said...

Nice catch on Carmen Ohio in space. You are certainly on your game today.

BTW, I think we have found something we can agree upon...I love that song. It always makes me smile. It was written in 1902 by a buckeye player (Fred Cornell) on the train ride home from Ann Arbor after his team got beat 86-0. Still the worst loss in tOSU history.

TitleIX said...

game, set, match srudoff.........

Anonymous said...

Andy - I can't believe you would bring up that devastating 1902 loss. Buckeye fans are still bitter about that one. You guys really did dominate the series prior to World War I.

I have to admit, Michigan fans are usually up on their history. Not surprising since Michigan's last outright title was in 1948.
