Everything is not ok in OK. Sooner fans are still rightfully livid over the shit job Pac-10 instant replay officials did last Saturday in their 34-33 loss to Oregon. During the controversial onside kick with 1:12 left in the game and the Ducks down six, not only did the ball not travel 10 yards, but Oregon didn't even recover the damn thing as evidenced by the video below we saw

Instant replay doesn't blow. The booth during this game, making the call, blows.
I'm pretty sure Boren requested all that stuff before the pac-10 took action, but I could be wrong.
Either way, OU got a bullshit call that went their way the week before against UAB that could've been a deciding factor in their win, so tough shit.
Let's not ignore the death threats that followed: http://sports.yahoo.com/ncaaf/news;_ylt=AqGBhBo8vl4Bc2ZfIlM1VWUcvrYF?slug=ap-oklahomareplay-official&prov=ap&type=lgns
I love it. Where do I buy?
Patrick,
Just click on the link to the MZone store in the post.
Thanks!
oh yeah, the death threats.. You stay classy, Oklahoma.
Go fuck yourself Longhorn
Yost, it is to your credit that you re-evaluate Oklahoma's position in your ballot, as you mention in the post. But doesn't this suggest you should re-evaluate Oregon's position as well?
I'm a Texas fan, but I still think Oklahoma was screwed to such an extent that it is unfair for Oregon to be unduly rewarded and Oklahoma unduly penalized for the final result in this game. Those casting ballots can to a large extent rectify the officiating mistakes . . . and -- incredibly -- the major polls seem to have done so (Oregon at 12 & 13 vs. Oklahoma at 16 & 17).
Hey, this isn't the first time an Oregon conspiracy cost an opponent a game in Eugene....
Who will ever forget the way they crowned the field so that Navarre couldn't hit any of his passes there???
Damn tricky Ducks!
:-)
If we can get over the Sun-Belt Conference Officiating team, Oklahoma will get over this as well.
Didn't the Iowa Hawkeyes get screwed in their bowl game last year on a bad call on an on-sides kick? You'd think for an official, it would be one of the easier calls.
Why can't we all just get along... Nothing like a bunch of sooner-longhorn love 1st thing in the morning. At the end of the day none of this is going to matter. By the end of the season: OU will have lost 3-4 times and Texas will have lost at least twice.
I recall Colorado winning a half national title in 1990 because they were given a fifth down vs Mizzou. Results always stand, but writers and coaches should consider the ill-gotten gains from truly shitty officiating when filling out their ballots.
LSU took one this past weekend as well, in part due to instant replay
No matter if OU was granted an asterisk on the game, it still doesn't change the fact that in the end Oregon won, and that is what people will remember. Instead I believe that Karma will prevail.
As a Sooner fan, I just want to mourn over the screw job in peaceful solitude, so I can move on and forget about this horrific game.
I won't waste the space typing my thoughts here. If you are interested, go to http://dallassportspowerhouse.blogspot.com/
Sorry for the shameless plug. This has gotten ridiculous.
First off I do not agree with threats against the officiating crew and 95% of OU fans feel the same way. In every fan base you are going to have idiotic yokels who will disgrace the school and team. Seriously boswell do you think UT fans are the only ones exempt from these kinds of people? From my experience with UT I have definitely came across some degenerate UT people, but I do not judge the whole UT fan base on these dingle berries. Stop trying to make all OU people look like assholes!
Hey M-Zone, I love the shirt, pretty funny. Congrats Michigan on the win against Notre Dame, that win made me feel a little better on Saturday.
Yost, I think its very thoughtful of you to re-consider dropping OU significantly based on the screwed-up outcome of this game, but if it were my ballot I'd temper your charitability by remembering the 500+ yards of total offense given up by the OU defense in that game. Nonetheless, OU got screwed by the quackers.
I was about 40 rows up on the back side of the play, and I knew the ball went 9 yards. Until yesterday I never knew that Chung never had the ball. All in all that sucks for the Sooners. Sorry
I watched that game. Didn't OU get the chance to win with a field goal? If they had made the kick, we would be talking about something else here. Sure mistakes are made. They are part of the game. It is the same response you'd give to all of us cry baby Penn State fans. "If you had scored more points during the first 58 minutes, then a bad call in the last two would mean anything."
how about OU's last TD.. the one where the receiver clearly pushed off of the defender with no call? If we're gonna look at one bad call then we have to look at all of them.
We need a diversion from this...
What do Hurricane and Buckeye fans think of the officiating at the end of the 2002 Fiesta Bowl? Was the pass interference/non-pass interference the right call? Please discuss.
I keed. I keed.
ou blonde,
I don't think there is another way to paint this picture. While I know that there are good people in Iraq, all I see on TV is the flag burning, guns shooting seperatists that would love nothing more than to put my head on a silver platter.
The point is that perception is easily skewed between people that simply don't like each other. When an incident comes up, the first people to point it out are the "righteous".
"...to start changing results opens up a can of worms that I don't think any college football wants to unleash."
I totally agree. Keep the leashes on the worms!
By the way, the poor ref, after his 7th death threat, couldn't keep his blood pressure down, so he unplugged his phone to avoid having an inevitable heart attack.
Those 7, along with anyone who supports that behavior has a room reserved in Hell, where they will be forced to watch Oregon "beat" the Sooners for the rest of eternity.
First off...the Pac-10 has always had bad officials...No one outside of the Pac-10 never really sees them since we have a lame ass contract with Fox Sports.
The only time you really see it is when SC plays, since they are always the nationally televised game.
Second...Oregon didn't pay off the officials....Phil Knight paid them off, Nike has deeper pockets than Oregon.
Third....The oklahoma death threats were probably done by the same douchebag who Bomar worked for
let me break it down for you.........phil knight paid the free masons with some of his sweat shop money. the free masons, through jimmy hoffa's mob connections, laundered said sweat shop money and gave it to the west coast priory of scion chapter who handed it off to the pac-10 officals
let me see your O face!
QUACK QUACK
Yes, the Hawks were screwed on a on-sides kick. We recovered the ball, but were flagged for being off-sides, when clearly we were not. End of game, no replay.
Unfortunately, for the Sooners, the must feel the wrath of bad refs as well.
OK Fans, I feel for you about the blown call. However, your defense still did not stop the Ducks after they recovered the ball. A reception, a pass interference call then the touchdown pass.
Plus, it would be mute if the FG at buzzer was not blocked.
Deal with it and move on. Pat Forde said it right this week. Should KC lose their 85 World Championship over Don Denkenger's call?? No.
LMAO anon 10:20!
The most embarassing part of this whol episode has been the response on the part of the administration of Oklahoma. Yes, you get screwed.
But seriously....your school PRESIDENT sending out a letter demanding that the results of the game be voided? Seriously? Are you kidding me? Doesn't he have anything better to do, like, oh, I don't know, running an instituation of higher learning?
The overreaction is almost embarassing. If your school president has nothing better to do except whine and gripe about the results of a football game, you know your priorities are screwed up.
